Internexus Broadband and Connectivity products can be tailored for the needs of any size or type of business. Here we look at how Internexus can assess the requirements of a large business and provide suitable products to improve performance, increase resilience, and reduce costs.
Large businesses can be found in many industries and would include Corporates, Public Sector bodies and Local Government. All will have large offices and have dedicated IT or data management departments. Some such businesses will have multiple sites which may be in different locations throughout the UK. The requirements of the different sites may vary and may be differ to that of the Head Office.
Here are some of the common needs of most large businesses.
Internexus consultants will do an assessment by looking at the existing business set-up, current needs, future plans, and business priorities. This will help determine the best product or combination of products for the business. With a large business, this will always involve a site visit and many face to face discussions. Comprehensive site surveys may also be necessary in most cases.
After the assessment, we will provide a written recommendation with a quotation. Our aims would be to delivers better performance and more resilience whilst fulfilling other identified needs. The options and recommendations will be discussed with the business at a face to face meeting before agreement is reached on the best way forward.
Once the necessary elements of the network have been planned, designed and procured, Internexus can undertake the installation and commissioning to ensure that the network is configured and operating effectively. The agreed products will be installed and services provisioned in a seamless manner with minimal or no disruption to the business; and Internexus can provide training, and will provide ongoing support and advice.
A large business may have multiple sites and the connectivity and broadband requirement at each of these sites may be different depending on their bandwidth requirements.
Even though email and standard Internet Access are not usually bandwidth intensive, a company with more than 100 users would want to have high bandwidth Dedicated Internet Access, as ADSL broadband would not be adequate, especially at peak times. Even with the best standard ADSL there could be up to 20 users sharing the same bandwidth at peak times, as it is a contended service.
At the Head Office and large branches, there will be a requirement for high upstream bandwidth especially if the company has IP Telephony or runs its own server based applications. In such a case having ADSL would be totally inadequate due to the low upload speeds.
Inter Office Connectivity if needed would also require good bandwidth in both directions and the business may have a requirement for an IP VPN covering all of their sites.
Overall Connection Bandwidth will be determined by the needs of the business (and would typically vary between 10Mbps to 1Gbps, normally in both directions) and a Dedicated Connection such as a Leased Line or Wireless Microwave Link to a Internexus POP would normally be required for such a business and large branches. In smaller branches or offices, where requirements are lower than average, it may be possible to manage with Fibre Broadband or EFM providing these products are available at the local exchange serving the business.
A business may also consider utilizing Internexus SIP Trunking services, especially if the new bandwidth is ample as this will enable the business to reduce line rental costs and also make savings on telephone calls. Internexus SIP Trunking is usually possible without replacing the current Telephone System.
Alternatively a new IP Telephone System (in conjunction with our partner Tpad) may be worth considering at the same time particularly if your current system is outdated or limiting your productivity. A Tpad system will provide the latest advanced features such as Call Recording, Fax to Email and Remote Working. Additionally if the business has multiple sites, then communications between these sites would effectively be free.
"We had a large Avaya Telephone system with over 100 extensions which we did not want to scrap. However Internexus were able to confirm that they could link the system to their SIP Trunking Service. We did the sums and found out that we were paying for about 50 lines delivered via 2 ISDN 30 links at a cost of approximately £10,000 per year and this was on top of our call costs and Internet Access. By enhancing our Internet bandwidth and using a SIP trunk we could save not only on lines but also on calls. We implemented the solution, as the SIP Trunking from Internexus was free with the Dedicated Internet link. This has allowed us to keep our existing telephone system, but take full benefit of latest IP Technology to save on line and call costs; at the same time as getting superior Dedicated Internet Access."

"Our company has 18 different offices across the UK and their requirements can be met by standard ADSL broadband. However, we wanted to improve our Internet Access at our head office and at the same time look at more secure connectivity between all of our sites. Internexus provided a high speed Wireless Microwave Link to our HQ with 40Mbps Dedicated Internet Access and an IP VPN solution to link all of our sites securely. Now we have adequate but secure connectivity between all of our offices and a very fast high speed dedicated link to the Internet via the Wireless Microwave Link."
Alex Simpson - Data Manager
"When we contacted Internexus business for a quotation, they took a keen interest in our business and tried to understand our needs. They came back with a competitive price on what I had requested together with other options, one of which was even more cost effective. We implemented a Internexus Wireless Microwave Link to provide huge bandwidth for Dedicated Internet Access. The installation was professionally handled and they provided training and ongoing support."
Chris Sutton - IT Manager
"We wanted to upgrade our Internet Service which was provided via SDSL. Our building did not have access to fibre and a leased line installation fee would have been quite high. Internexus did an assessment and offered us a range of options. The most cost effective options and the one they recommended was Wireless Microwave Link between our site and Internexus, as they had a couple of points of presence in the same town. This has enabled us to upgrade from 2Mb SDSL to 20Mb of Dedicated Internet Access. The current link can be increased to 100Mb without any further installation work. No-one else could offer us such bandwidth, speed of installation, upgrade potential, and price."
Dr. Noel Simmons - IT Director
"We have 6 offices located throughout the UK and we wanted a totally secure connection between our offices. Our bandwidth requirements were modest and were related to mainly data transfer between the offices but we wanted more consistency than standard ADSL broadband. Internexus gave use options using Private SDSL or IP VPN over SDSL (or over Leased Lines) and explained the advantages of each. In the end we went for the Private SDSL and this has performed very well over the past 3 years. What was impressive about Internexus compared with other suppliers is that they took time to understand the needs of the business and considered various options before making their recommendations. It is likely that we will need to increase our bandwidth next year and we have been in discussions with Internexus to review all the options before deciding what to do."
David Forrest - IT Manager
"Our company staff are split between two sites in the same town. We needed to upgrade our broadband and also needed a faster and secure data link between our own sites. Internexus did an assessment of our needs and offered us a solution which we had not considered before. They had several Internexus points of presence in the town and were able to link our main building to one of their Internexus sites via a Microwave Link. Using another link they were able to link both of our buildings together as there was a line of site between them. Now we have a high speed 20Mb link between our buildings and a dedicated 50Mb link to the Internet from our main site."
