Internexus SDSL Broadband provides instant high-speed Internet access to multiple users on office networks with a low contention "always-on" connection.

These business broadband services provide "synchronous" SDL where upload and download speeds are the same, enabling your business to utilise technologies that require higher upstream speeds, such as Voice, Virtual Private Networking and file transfer. The services are provided on a lower contention ratio of 10:1 than asynchronous DSL (ADSL) and are uncapped with regards to monthly usage (truly unlimited).

Designed with the needs of business in mind, SDSL technology gives you a dedicated high-speed Internet connection that is fast, efficient and economical. It is particularly used for:-

SDSL requires a dedicated line which is normally installed at the same time and is included in the price. The line cannot be used for making calls as it is dedicated to the SDSL service.

Selecting the right product

Internexus will help you select a product suited to your business needs. Three types of SDSL services are available depending on bandwidth requirements. Both upload and download speeds are the same and monthly usage is unlimited.

SDSL Broadband Questions and Answers

Why would I need SDSL, over ADSL?

With SDSL you get symmetrical download and upload speeds that makes SDSL upload speeds considerably faster than most other broadband connections. This is useful for the connection remote sites to share central resources head office or for off-loading data to remote locations.

Is SDSL available on my exchange?

SDSL is not enabled on every BT telephone exchange in the UK so in some areas of the country it may not be available.

How long does it take for the service to be activated?

Usually 10-12 working days. The minimum contract for the SDSL service is 12 months.

Can I use SDSL as a normal phone line to make calls?

No. SDSL uses the full bandwidth of the line therefore making conventional calls over the line is not possible. Considering calls over VoIP would be a viable alternative.

Will I need to arrange a new analogue line for the SDSL connection?

No. Unlike ADSL, a telephone line is not required. The installation charge covers the cost of Internexus arranging for a BT engineer to install a dedicated line for your SDSL service. We will contact you to confirm the appointment date and time shortly after your order is placed.

Who will install the service?

The service will be installed by an Openreach Engineer from Internexus

What hardware will I require?

You will need to use an SDSL router. We strongly recommend purchasing a managed SDSL router from Internexus. This allows our Managed Support team to pre-configure the hardware to your requirements, provide remote fault diagnostics and make unlimited changes and updates.

What speed will I get?

For the maximum speed (up to 2Mbps) you will need to be within approximately 1.6 km of their exchange. 1Mbps can be provided up to 2.5 km from the exchange and 512Kbps up to 3.4 km.
